Zero fuel and a negative bank balance

Snapped a quick shot yesterday parked next to a 97 EL Falcon XR8 (I still love that model)... I wonder if these two have ever met before...

But how else can you be happy while broke?

I got my first V8 last year. It brought me so much happiness. I moved closer to work to help with the negative bank balance, haha

Whoa I haven't seen you around these parts in a while, good to have you back! Though I am a little sad you've switched allegiances ;)

Haha agreed
I only live 10minutes away from work but with 4,11s and and a silly 4200rpm Hi-Stall...

I've been back a while now; but was gone for quite sometime, until I realised that they had fixed the issues with viewing and posting on the site from mobile devices.
Im still a Ford man but I've always had a soft spot for Holden 5.0s and VN SS's and when my mate offered me this car for too good a price I had to take it. Prices are set to go up on these models so arguably it is an investment

I understand man, I will always be a Ford guy, but a deal is a deal. My friend and his dad are Ford guys too but when a bargain basement deal came along on a mint Camaro, his dad couldn't say no.

What happened to the Skyline?

more info needed. I recognize the falcon...ish (thanks Trickford Falcon from gran turismo 3!)

But I have no idea what you're driving, and it looks small to have a V8 in it. Please share your aussie (presumably) wisdom with us.

What I am driving there is an Alpine White 1991 Holden VN Commdore SS. Only year this model was sold in that colour. Indeed it does have a V8, the trusty Holden Fivey! 5.0litres or 304ci, EFI. 165kw and 385nm stock. 1400kgs. Available with a T5 manual or TH700 auto, mine has the auto, admitted a BUILT auto with a 4200rpm Hi-Stall backed by a mini-spooled 4.11 geared Borg Warner diff.
Only mods to the engine are tri-y extractors and a custom twin-exhaust dumped at the diff (no balance pipe)

(the v8 in the image is out of my 1989 Holden VN Calais, ignore the poo filter)

Haha and "Tickford" Falcon you are thinking of is a later AU model though it does share the trademark quad-headlights. I have previously owned an earlier 1994 ED XR6 (4.0 inline-6, 164kw 330nm t5 3.45 LSD Borg warner diff) the EL XR8 in final guise had an efi 5.0 Windsor with 180kw, the AU bumped that up to 220kw.

Exactly, and buying this SS off a mate funded him his first legit motorbike.... A second gen hayabusa, but that's another story....
The skyline I swapped for a 5.0 VN Calais (luxury spec Commodore) which I intend to fix up for the Missus to drive

Man, you guys have such cool muscle cars down under. Any more pics of that thing? It looks very sleeper, which I like. And yeah, looking at the Ford more closely, you're right it does have different headlights. I dunno, the Falcon is just easy to identify, it has a very distinctive look.

One of my best friends drives a "Holden." Or so he'd have us all believe. Here's a pic of his car.

Nice "Monaro" haha
Here's a front 3/4 shot, she would be a sleeper if it weren't for the pipes

Love it man! At first glance it just looks like a well taken care of ho-hum car, which by its self would still be pretty cool.

But of course it's more than that. Cool car man, thanks for sharing. Really dig the way those steelies look on that thing.

Haha yeah; it surprisingly gets alot of attention, even when parked next to newer HSVs
Yeah I love the steelies, or 'Ceptors as they are known locally (they were standard issue on police interceptors)
I actually took off a set of late-model HSV 19s to put them on; though I am thinking about putting on my set of period correct sv5000s

So was/am I. The thing about Holdens though; their hoons cars, especially the VN Commodore, most stolen/impounded car in Australia

I've owned 4 Falcons in a row before these Commodores

I've never even seen a Falcon or Commodore(GTO, G8, and SS don't count IMO) in real life, so I'm quite jealous. It's on my bucket list to go to Australia and sample/hoon as many as I can.
